Denmark produces lots of professional ballroom dancers – but everything depends on finding the right partner. In recent years, dancers are increasingly being brought in from Russia and other Eastern European countries to form the ideal dance couple. 14-year-old Mie is an elite dancer. When her partner stops dancing, her family finds a new Russian partner Egor. Since May 2011, he has lived with Mie and her parents in Denmark. The duo appear to be perfect together. But Egor is having trouble adjusting to his new home, and Mie and her mother also have to get used to the new family member.

On April 14th 2010 the earth opened up for the second time in less than a month at Eyjafjallajökull in Southern Iceland. The volcanic eruption melted the ice cap, flooded the nearby farms and spewed 70 tons of ash into the stratosphere per second and disrupted air traffic throughout Northern Europe. It forced many flight cancellations and stranded thousands of passengers. The disruption captured the world’s attention. When the airlines resumed their normal routes and headlines started to fade, the farmers under the volcano were fighting for their livestock and livelihood as they still are today.

The film ‘ASH’ follows three farming families living under the volcano over the course of a year to see the effect of the ash on their lives and livelihood. It is a character-driven creative documentary about the aftermath under the volcano.

But despite the odds, she refuses to give up her dream of dignity, motherhood and love.

Through the eyes of one young woman we see a life of constant struggle, but also a life free of the society’s norms and boundaries. The woman in the center of the film, Hind is both vulnerable and courageous as she tries to regain her life, her children and her mere right to live as an equal human being in the 21st century.

In 2009, the Norwegian government introduced several measures to restrict immigration. One of the measures is to grant temporary residence permits to unaccompanied children seeking asylum. At the age of 18, they are to be returned to their country of origin. In Norway, the Child Welfare takes custody of children without close caregivers – but this does not apply to unaccompanied asylum-seeking children between the age of 15 and 18 years.

This film follows a number of boys placed in Salhus, a center offering temporary residence for 20 child asylum seekers. Most of them will be deported as soon as they become 18, and that means an uncertain future in Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq or other war-torn regions. The fear and the hopelessness often lead to psychological problems, and in some cases to self-destructive behavior. This film follows one of the boys even after his deportation. It takes the boy two months to return to Europe, where an existence as an illegal immigrant is still better than life in Iraqi Kurdistan. Nowhere Home uncovers the reality of a question that has been one of Europe’s major moral dilemmas for many years.

在阿富汗,外国记者外出一般都有当地军事护卫陪同,活动受限;没有陪同孤身进到当地村子又对记者很危险。一位丹麦记者想出了一个了解当地百姓的办法:偷偷给了30个人手机,让他们拍摄自己的生活,然后用这些拍摄片段组成了本片。我们从中看到了与西方视角截然不同的阿富汗。

Because journalists aren’t allowed out of their hotels without a military escort, contact with the civilian population is pretty near impossible. But Nagieb Khaja, a young Danish journalist of Afghani origin has a trick up his sleeve. He gives 30 civilians cell phones equipped with HD cameras and asks them to film their daily lives. This provides us with a rare glimpse into the war-torn existence of regular Afghanis, a valuable antithesis to our very Western perspective on the war.

At the tender age of 70 she started recording and releasing her own music straight from the living room. 7 years later she had 59 albums to her name with more than 600 songs – an eccentric myriad of catchy compositions mixing in her pets, found toys, kitchen percussion and Casio keyboards. Sigridur Nielsdottir is her name, and before long the Icelandic/Danish musician became an adored cult figure in the Icelandic music scene, represented here by her young apprentices Mugison, Mum, and Seabear. Shot mostly on Super-8 and 16mm ‘Grandma Lo-fi’ is a cinematic tribute to her boundless creativity.

Olof Palme was a pivotal, renowned, and polarizing figure domestically as well as in international politics since the 1960s. He was the two-term Prime Minister of Sweden. Palme was steadfast in his non-alignment policy towards the superpowers, frequently criticized US and Soviet foreign policy, and supported numerous third world liberation movements. The major reforms in the Sweden carried out by Olof Palme promoted the process of democratization, boosted economic growth and built complete social welfare system.

2012年挪威电影国内票房(文章里按人次算)惨淡,但该片还是10大卖座挪威片的第十名

综合上面的制片人采访,以及官网上对里面学生参与的政治活动的介绍,以及挪威选举的年龄下限调低的情况,总结了一点可以算是背景资料:

挪威从1989年开始在挪威大选前举行学生竞选(本片中的学生们正在为此准备),从2011年开始挪威部分地区把选举年龄调到16岁。这也许是为什么很多挪威青少年们积极参与到政治活动中,同时为什么这次恐怖袭击又给他们这么大的震动。在挪威放映时,超过80%的观众是年轻人,有人说他们是被这次恐怖袭击定义的一代。

After joining Nashi at the age of 15, Masha Drokova moves to the very top of the organization at 16. When she becomes acquainted with a group of liberal journalists, she started to have doubts. When one of the journalists is brutally beaten by “unknown perpetrators,” she has a genuine change of heart and decides to take a stand.

From this girl’s perspective, this documentary shows the complicated modern Russia full of contrasts.
